Older people share their concerns in Pensioners Parliament

Pensioners Parliment

The spotlight was on older people in Ards & North Down and Antrim & Newtownabbey recently as the latest rounds of Pensioners Parliament came to town.

Over 100 older people from Ards & North Down gathered in Bangor, while more than 70 older people turned up for Mossley Mill.

The parliament, organised by Age Sector Platform featured interactive voting, discussion and Q&A with panels of local Councillors, MLAs and policy experts.

The events also provided a great opportunity for PCSPs to engage with attendees and provide information and advice.

The key issues for older people in Antrim & Newtownabbey are age discrimination, fear of crime and healthcare. Meanwhile, people in Ards & North Down focused on health and the political impact of the collapse of the Assembly.
