The local elections in May 2019 will trigger the requirement for all 11 Policing and Community Safety Partnerships to be reconstituted. Applications for independent members will open in January 2019 and close in March 2019, with the reconstitution to be fully completed and new independent members appointed and ready to take up their positions in March 2020.
The Northern Ireland Policing Board is responsible for making the independent member appointments and if this is something you might be interested in, here’s a quick overview:
- You must be over 18 year and live in, or be able to demonstrate a close connection and active interest to, the Council area for which you are making an application;
- This is a voluntary role and does not attract any allowance. However, members are eligible to claim a general expenses payment;
- Full training will be provided to all members.
So if the PCSP is something you think you would like to get involved in, register your interest by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org or phoning us at 028 9040 8553 and giving us your name, email address and the council area of the PCSP you would be interested in. We’ll then get in touch when the appointment process starts.
In the meantime if you would like to find out some more information about PCSPs and what we do, have a look what they do here and follow us on social media
